The article below is a summary on only some aspects of the Nightblade. If you need something more extensive and comprehensive, this class guide is your best bet. It helped me build a powerful nightblade and reach the level cap in a week's time. The included up-to-date, in-depth section on strategies will perfect your game, just as it did with mine.
Nightblade excels at dealing massive amounts of damage to single-targets. The following skills and equipment will help you get the most out of your character.
The Assassination Tree
The assassination tree is not very useful with the exception of Soul Harvest. This skill provides you with a decent amount of ultimate gain, increases your DPS, and coupled with the Shrouded Armor Set will greatly increase your health regeneration. Some of the skills on this tree either do not display properly due to a graphical error or do not work whatsoever. These skills may be patched later on, but it’s recommended to stick to Soul Harvest and nothing more.
The Shadow Tree — Actives
Dark Cloak is essential to include in every Nightblade build. This skill increases your survivability by giving you a period of invisibility for 2.5 seconds and removes four damage over time effects. Our next skill, Surprise Attack, has a strong synergy with Dark Cloak. You can use this skill out of Dark Cloak and stun, debuff, and initiate an attack.
The Shadow Tree — Passives
You want every passive in this tree. This includes Refreshing Shadow, Shadow Barrier, Fortitude, and Dark Veil. Refreshing Shadow increases regeneration, Shadow Barrier increases protection after coming out of stealth, Fortitude increases max health by 2 percent for each Shadow ability you have slotted, and Dark Veil increases the duration of both your Dark Cloak’s invisibility and the debuff effect that results from attacking your opponent with Surprise Attack.
Swallow Soul is your main source of damage and allows you to heal if you use a bow or dual wield. Siphoning Attacks is your go-to when you need to regenerate magicka and stamina. Catalyst is optional, but helps because you receive more magicka from your magical potions. Magicka Flood increases your Magicka pool as long as you have one Siphoning ability in your hotbar. Transfer increases the rate of gaining ultimate while bursting with the bow.
This tree is all about maximizing DPS output. You want Blood Craze for dual wielding, Steel Tornado for AoE, Slaughter to help finish off enemies close to death, Dual Wield Expert for extra damage, Controlled Fury which saves stamina while attacking, Ruffian adds further damage, and Twin Blade and Blunt increase dual swords damage.
Medium Armor increases your crit rate, raises stamina regeneration, provides more bonuses when using stealth, and helps you run and attack faster. Vampire helps you survive even longer with its Devouring Swarm skill. Furthermore, Dark Stalker is another essential skill in the Vampire tree; this skill allows you move in crouch mode as fast as you walk.
